The Challenge
The client needs to find a local source to support lead time requirements and as a technical resource to prevent light leaks and other optics issues when the part is lit. Also, to ensure materials and quality of finished parts meet the handling requirements as this is an actively used device.
Materials to be selected for durability, resistance to cleaning solutions, and hard-coated for abrasion resistance.
Our solution
Utilizing a combination of engineered materials, screen printed inks, and customer-supplied light source, Melrose was able to strike the perfect balance of strong opaque print features with the translucency requirements to bring this design to life. Providing a local resource to the client also allowed for quick in-person collaboration to fine-tune the details and hit all the key attributes for the final part design.
